Each of the first five motorized GRDI units fields an anti-tank platoon equipped with Renault AMR-35 ZT-2 and ZT-3 armored cars, with only ten of each produced. They share the 25mm SA-35 gun of the Panhard AMD-35. The ZT-2's gun is housed in a cramped turret on a standard AMR-35 hull, while the ZT-3's gun is mounted as a self-propelled weapon in a raised casemate. The vehicles operate in pairs, with the low, turretless ZT-3 using its small profile to find good ambush spots, and the larger, turreted ZT-2 providing cover from a distance. With the most powerful gun in the GRDI reconnaissance battalion, the AMR ZT-2 and ZT-3 significantly enhance the reconnaissance's anti-tank capabilities.
